Bridging the Gap between Algebra I & Algebra II

Refresh your skills on graphing linear equations, graphing absolute value inequalities, solving quadratic equations, factoring, simplifying radicals, and solving radical equations.  Spend six hours total getting a jump start on the new school year.  Supplies you will need are a loose-leaf notebook, paper, four-function calculator (not a graphing calculator), straight-edge or ruler, and pencils.

Preparing children for First Grade

Would you like your child to go to first grade ready for the challenges ahead? In this session, we will review basic skills from kindergarten, but also begin introducing your child to new skills. One hour will be spent in literacy work and the next hour in mathematics. I will be using a thematic approach in order to keep your child interested in our summer work. It will be a fun learning environment in which he or she will learn without even realizing it! Come and join Miss Jessica Jetton, an experienced, kindergarten and first grade teacher, in this engaging summer success camp for a day of learning fun!

Beginner’s Spanish

This class is designed to be a beginning Spanish class where children can learn the basics of Spanish in a fun and engaging way. Children will play games, sing songs and read books all while learning the most fundamental Spanish words and phrases. Lots of hands-on activities, visuals and manipulatives will be used to make Spanish learning easy, fun, and memorable. The target grade levels are K-2.

Writing Workshop

Writing is a struggle for many students.  This workshop will give students a variety of easy techniques that will make the writing process more relevant to them, thus making it easier.  The focus will be on the different formats necessary when students are preparing for the GA Writing Assessment tests given in 3rd, 5th and 8th grades.

Algebra Review

Algebra reinforcement- These training sessions will afford students the opportunity to hone their fundamental skills which usually equates to higher test scores (due to making fewer simple mistakes). Students will learn methods to help strengthen their skills and thus improve their self confidence. Whether your child is strong in math or needs one on one attention, this series of sessions will help them become a better student by helping them work towards reaching their full potential. Specific topics will vary depending on the needs of the individual but we expect to go over multi-step equations, calculating surface area of simple and complex shapes, calculating volume of 3-dimensional shapes, and many other topics. The goals of the program are to improve the students leveling of understanding while increasing your child’s confidence through a variety of hands on activities that will require the student to apply the concepts. All students can benefit from this training as improving critical thinking skills helps the students in more than one subject area.
